ACFCS hosts Human Trafficking – The Real Cost and Financial Sector Response webinar

What:             The Association of Certified Financial Crime Specialists (ACFCS) will host a very special and important two-part webinar series presented by Timea Nagy, a human trafficking survivor, author, educator and social advocate. The event is complimentary for ACFCS members and $50 for non-members.

When:             Two Sessions: June 27 and 28 -- 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern each date

 Where:            Via Webinar; Register here.

Why:               Despite growing efforts by financial institutions and law enforcement, human trafficking remains a multi-billion dollar criminal industry impacting an estimated 21 million victims worldwide. The financial services sector is uniquely positioned to assist in combating human trafficking by unveiling the illicit proceeds that fuel it. In this special two-part webinar, human trafficking survivor, author and social advocate Timea Nagy will take attendees inside the grim world of human trafficking, and provide insights on how to detect and prevent it.

In the first session, Timea will share her story to illustrate the inner workings of human trafficking. The second session will offer practical guidance on how financial institutions can implement and augment programs to detect the proceeds of human trafficking.

 Attendees will learn:

  •  Key red flags related that can be used to help identify possible victims and uncover traffickers
  •  Guidance and best practices provided by industry associations, advocacy groups and regulators that can assist with training and awareness
  •  How institutions can harness information-sharing programs, both between institutions and with law enforcement, to help detect threats and more effectively respond to human trafficking
